CHORAL CELEBRATION CONCERT
Sunday, July 25
Pre-Concert Organ Recital, 3:15 p.m.
Concert, 4:00 p.m.

Rodman Center for the Arts, Ripon College

Following four days of intensive rehearsals, the singers of the Green Lake Festival Choral Institute will perform their Choral Celebration on Sunday, July 25, at 4 p.m. in the Rodman Center for the Arts at Wisconsin’s Ripon College. Featured on the program are two Bach cantatas and Mozart's Sancta Maria, accompanied by a chamber orchestra playing authentic period instruments.

The Institute, open to both amateur and professional singers, is led by conductor Stephen Alltop. On the conducting faculty of Northwestern University, Stephen Alltop directs the Cheyenne Symphony and the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestras, and Chicago's Apollo Chorus. Besides his work as a conductor, Steven Alltop is an accomplished keyboard soloist, accompanist and orchestral musician.  His solo performances are available on the American Grammaphone and Cedille labels.

Lee Egbert, Director of Choral Activities at Colorado State University reports that "Alltop is exceedingly musical and practical with both chorus and orchestra, with a marvelous and impressive choral conducting (and teaching) technique with my singers. As a preparing conductor, I was delighted to see that Maestro Steven Alltop conducted with the same fire and nuance that he rehearsed."

Early arrivals may attend a pre-concert organ recital by Mr. Alltop at 3:15 p.m. A Meet the Artists reception at Rodman, hosted by Ripon College President and Mrs. David Joyce, will follow the concert.

The Willcocks Vocal Fund sponsors this concert with major support from Sylvia and Bill Richards.  Support for this concert is also provided in part by the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the state of Wisconsin. Additional promotional support is provided by Wisconsin Public Radio.
