Two overlapping programs offer great opportunities for singers to explore new and familiar music. The Choral Institute-Festival Chorus (June 20-23; registration deadline April 15 ) and the Composer Residency-Chamber Choir (June 22-25; video audition deadline March 15) are led by Choral Programs Director John C. Hughes.
This year’s Festival Chorus will perform Carl Orff’s thrilling Carmina Burana. John C. Hughes conducts the chorus, two pianos, a bevy of percussionists, and soprano Alisa Jordheim, tenor James Judd, and baritone Jonathan Lasch. The 4-day Choral Institute welcomes anyone who loves to sing to join the Festival Chorus. The pre-concert conversation starts at 7 pm.
Globally acclaimed Indian-American composer Reena Esmail collaborates with the Festival’s Chamber Choir in June and with the Chamber Music Institute in July, embodying this season’s theme of Hemispheres Uniting.
Composer Reena Esmail will work closely with participants in the 2023 Choral Program Composer Residency June 22-25, culminating in the Chamber Choir performance of her music, conducted by Choral Programs Director John C. Hughes. Don’t miss the pre-concert conversation at 2:45 pm.
The Boston-based ensemble, currently in residence at the New England Conservatory’s Professional String Quartet Program, will perform in this historic 1866 church that is listed on the Wisconsin and National Register of Historic Places. Pre-concert conversation starts at 7pm.

Cellist Anita Graef has earned recognition for her artistic excellence and her fresh and innovative approach to programming, mixing works from the classical canon with those by historically underrepresented composers. Green Lake Festival of Music’s Chamber Music Institute (CMI) is an extraordinary opportunity for pre-professional string players to make music together with greater expression, sensitivity, command, generosity, and more. CMI’s students learn by instruction, by example, by collaborating, and by doing.
Six engaging professional string musicians and educators from around the country make up the 2023 Chamber Music Institute faculty, and their sense of discovery is palpable when they play together in duos, trios, quartets, and other combinations. Don’t miss the pre-performance conversation at 7pm.

This convivial Festival tradition brings concertgoers and musicians together to mix and mingle before the lively performance begins.
The six teaching artists who make up the 2023 Chamber Music Institute faculty will take the stage again to thrill the audience with exciting, revelatory music. The pre-concert conversation starts at 7:00 pm.
Chamber Music Institute students and faculty conclude their nearly two weeks together with a spirited grand finale to showcase all they’ve learned. Don’t miss it! Pre-concert conversation at 1:30 pm.
This convivial annual gathering includes a champagne/wine reception, elegant light fare, and a live auction. Musical interludes will feature Fran Banish and Carlo Basile as the “Global Guitar Duo” performing traditional and original works of Spanish flamenco, Cuban, Asian and Americana roots. Amelia Korbitz, violin (former CMI participant). Internationally inspired cabaret performed by Emily Fons, mezzo-soprano and Janna Ernst, piano. $150/person, festive, colorful, and/or international attire encouraged.
