Green Lake Festival of Music (GLFM) is pleased to continue its dynamic Choral Conducting Apprentice Program. This initiative selects one Apprentice each summer and is designed for career-track singers, choral conductors, composers, and music educators enrolled in graduate-level programs. Very recently graduated students may also be considered. Green Lake Festival of Music is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive experience for choral singers. Black, Latinx, Asian/Pacific Islander, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ emerging professionals are strongly encouraged to apply. The selected Apprentice will receive tuition, sheet music, a private conducting lesson, housing, and a $1,200 stipend.

GLFM offers two choral programs: the Choral Institute and Composer Residency. Both programs are led by the GLFM Director of Choral Programs, John C. Hughes. 

The Apprentice will have the opportunity to study and rehearse a diverse repertoire with GLFM’s dynamic artistic staff, professional instrumentalists, and dedicated singers—all within a warm, supportive community.

The Apprentice will also have the opportunity to:

• rehearse one piece and conduct it in performance.
• lead sectional rehearsals.
• take a complimentary private conducting lesson with Dr. Hughes.
• join the GLFM artistic staff for a round-table discussion.

The selected Apprentice will receive tuition, sheet music, private conducting lesson, housing, and a $1,200 stipend.
